PlayStation Vita users report problems after software update
A large group of users of the PlayStation Vita handheld are experiencing problems after installing software version 3.57, which has recently appeared. For example, it is no longer possible to connect to the PlayStation Store, and the sleep mode does not work properly.
The issues are reported in several places, including the Neogaf forums and the official PlayStation forums. One of the problems mentioned is that the PlayStation Store cannot be started; the online game store hangs on a loading screen. Also, not being able to get a connection to the store ensures that previously purchased games do not function. Incidentally, there are also owners of the PS Vita who have been suffering from a non-functioning PlayStation Store for some time.
In addition to the problems with the PlayStation Store, users also state that they have problems with the battery. It would drain quickly, which is due to an error in the sleep mode. One of the suggestions mentioned on the forums is to boot the handheld console in safe mode and then choose the ‘rebuild database’ option. Although this has solved the problem for some users, not everyone seems to have success with it.
As far as is known, Sony has not yet responded to the problems. It is likely that the company will release a software update to fix the bugs. Incidentally, the problems do not seem to affect everyone, but it is still unclear what the exact cause is.
