Insomniac Games has announced Ratched & Clank: Rift Apart for PlayStation 5. The game uses ray tracing for Clank’s reflections, among other things. The game is an ‘interdimensional adventure’ where players can jump from planet to planet.

The trailer shows how players can jump through so-called rifts and thus end up in another dimension. Players end up in different worlds, without loading times involved. The game is being developed exclusively for the PlayStation 5 and the gameplay also seems partly focused on demonstrating the speed with which game environments can be loaded onto the PlayStation 5.

According to developer Insomniac Games, ray tracing is also used for certain effects, such as Clank’s reflections. The studio also says it will use the improved haptic feedback of the DualSense controller. Weapons should therefore feel different.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a completely new game in the series. In 2016, a remake of the original that appeared for the first PlayStation console in 2002 was released. A release date for the new game has not yet been announced.
