South Korean developer Bluehole announces that more than ten million copies of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds have been sold. This makes the game one of the best-selling PC games ever.

The new sales number was announced in a press release and in a tweet. Bluehole also notes in an email that the game had 970,000 concurrent players on Steam over the past weekend. This makes it the most played game on the Valve platform. For a long time, Dota 2 was in first place. At the end of August, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds first gained popularity and the game has since taken a bigger lead over Valve’s moba.

With ten million copies sold, the game ranks among the best-selling PC games ever. Other games sold similarly according to Wikipedia include Half-Life 2 and Garry’s Mod. There are only a small number of PC games that have sold more copies. Minecraft tops the list with 26 million copies.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has been available for purchase via Steam Early Access since March 23. For the early game you have to pay 30 euros. The game quickly grew in popularity, with four million copies sold by the end of June. During the last gamescom a big tournament was played with the game. Korean Kyo-min Koo won the single-player portion of the tournament, scoring just four kills.

PUBG will also be released for the Xbox One towards the end of this year. Even then it will still be an early version. Microsoft is going to release the game itself on the console. The final version of the game should be released for the Xbox One in early 2018. The PC version should also have surpassed the early stage by then.
