Platformer Psychonauts 2 has been delayed until 2020
Psychonauts 2 will not be released this year, but next year. It is the second time that the platform game that should have been released in 2018 has been postponed. Microsoft is going to release the game, but the promised PlayStation 4 version will come.
The makers of the game write on crowdfunding platform Fig that the release date is moving up to next year. A concrete date has not yet been announced, but there was also no date for the previously planned release this year. The delay has to do with the affiliation of developer Double Fine with Xbox Game Studios. At E3 in June, Microsoft announced that the Psychonauts developer will become part of the Xbox games division and thus Microsoft will be the publisher of Psychonauts 2.
The game will be available for Windows, Linux, macOS, the Xbox One and there will also be a PlayStation 4 version. That was initially promised and despite the fact that the studio has now been incorporated by Microsoft, the version for the console of competitor Sony is still available.
In 2016, Double Fine raised a total of $3.8 million to make the platform game through a crowdfunding campaign. The studio has also put its own money and money from investors into the project.
Psychonauts 2 is the sequel to the first installment that was released in 2005 for Windows, the PlayStation 2 and the Xbox. Like the first game, Psychonauts 2 is a platform game starring Raz, a little man who possesses psychological powers and has to fight his way through a colorful game world full of dangers and puzzles.
