Planet Coaster gets a Thememaker’s Toolkit
Frontier Developments gives Planet Coaster designers and players the ability to create their own 3D models for the game and share them with others. The Thememaker’s Toolkit will be available for free.
Makers can upload their creations from the Thememaker’s Toolkit for Planet Coaster to a website. In addition, they can indicate the name, in-game price, category of scene browser and colors. The site performs a check for problems and provides a file that is usable in the game.
From there, users can share their 3d model with others through Steam Workshop. Models must be supplied as a .fbx file, with png for the textures. The toolkit itself does not contain the possibility to create models, users must have their own Autodesk Maya, for example. It is not possible to add entire roller coasters.
“Artists within the community can create a range of items, such as a sci-fi starship or a custom-crafted shrub,” said Frontier Developments. The toolkit will be available for free later this year. The developer also promises to announce more about a new update for the game soon.
