A few days ago, Google filed for a trademark for the “Pixel Watch,” and this weekend Android Central got hold of photos of an alleged Pixel Watch that someone left behind in an American restaurant.

The photos show strong similarities with renders of the smartwatch that were previously put online. The watch has a round design and is quite convex at both the top and bottom. The rotating crown from the renders is present and in addition it has a single additional button, in accordance with concept images from Google I/O 2021.

The thickness of the bezel cannot be seen, as there are no photos showing the display on with all the pixels lit up. There is only a photo with the Google logo; presumably the smartwatch is starting up there. The black ‘screen part’ is in any case curved downwards along the housing.

Furthermore, there seems to be a diagnostic port on the top, where the watch band is also attached to the device. It may not be present in the final consumer model. There is also a hole in the side, where a microphone or altimeter can be located. At the rear is, according to speculation from 9to5Google among othersthe hardware for a heart rate monitor, an electrocardiogram and possibly other health functionalities.

The trademark application last week contains little information. It is a trademark for ‘smartwatches and smartwatch accessories’ and is the name Pixel Watch. So that seems to be what Google is going to call the device. Earlier rumors, coming from sources from YouTuber Jon Prosser, stated that the smartwatch should be released on May 26. Google itself has not yet revealed or disclosed anything.

The watch undoubtedly runs on Wear OS 3, the new version of the OS that is a product of the collaboration between Samsung and Google. For now, the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 is the only smartwatch that runs on that operating system.
