Pixel smartphones owners report random crashes
Some smartphones in Google’s Pixel series seem to suffer from freezes that sometimes last for minutes. The GPS functionality probably has something to do with the issues. Google is aware of it, but there isn’t a solution that works for everyone yet.
The problems do not occur with all Pixel smartphones, but there has been a complaint topic on Google’s support forums for quite some time. In it, several people complain about the software, which can occasionally crash due to unknown reasons. How long these freezes last varies per Pixel, but some users indicate that their device sometimes does not respond to input for minutes.
The crashes occur with both the Pixel and the Pixel XL, and may have something to do with the functioning of GPS. Many users with crashes report on the Google forum that after uninstalling the Life 360 app, a GPS tracker, they no longer suffer from the problems.
However, this is not to say that it is the app itself: there are also users with the Life 360 app who do not suffer from crashes. There are also users who do not have a Life 360, but still occasionally experience crashes. The discussions on the support forum show that the exact cause is not yet known. However, Google has already indicated in the topic that it is aware of the problems.
