Pixel smartphones owners complain about disappearing photos
Users of several Pixel smartphones have complained that photos taken with the camera are disappearing from the device. It appears to be a widespread problem, with some complaints from Android users with a non-Pixel smartphone.
The complaints appeared on Reddit, but also on Google’s support forums, as noted by The Verge, among others, who made an overview of the complaints. It seems that the smartphones, including the Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, do not save it properly after taking a photo. This especially happens if the user immediately returns to the home screen after taking the photo or opens another application.
It is not clear what exactly causes the problem, but it is probably in the Google Camera. The manufacturer itself has not yet responded to the problem, so details are still missing. It is clear, however, that problems also occur with non-Pixel smartphones, including the Galaxy S9, Moto Z2, Moto E4 and Nexus 5X. As a result, it appears to be a widespread problem among Google Camera users.
A user on Reddit suggests waiting for the HDR processing to be applied to the captured photo, something that can take some time after taking the photo. An alternative option is to turn off HDR completely when taking pictures. It’s not clear whether this will solve the photo saving problems for everyone.
