Pinterest has announced a way to purchase products through the site. Products are offered via so-called Buyable Pins – buy buttons. The feature will be rolled out first in the United States for devices running iOS.

According to the social networking site, introducing the buy button listens to what users want. The company behind Pinterest states that the new feature makes it easier to actually get your hands on pinned products. Probably the revenue of the site should also be increased. It is not yet known which part of the purchase amount will be in the hands of Pinterest.

Pinterest states that the Buyable Pins will be introduced in the coming weeks. This only applies to users who are located in the United States and who use an iPad or iPhone. There should be two million Pins with buyable products on the site before the end of the month, according to Pinterest.

Anyone who uses Android or surfs to Pinterest via the desktop will see the buy button in later updates. When that will be, however, has not been announced, just as it is still unclear when the feature will be rolled out to other countries.

Last year, Twitter already introduced a buy button, so that products can be bought directly from tweets. Internet giant Google announced last week that it would introduce a buy button. It is shown with advertisements.
