Pine64 QuartzPro64 single-board computer gets RK3588 soc and 16GB ram

Pine64 is working on a single-board computer based on a Rockchip RK3588 soc with 16GB Lpddr4x memory and 64GB eMMC storage. The sign is aimed at developers and will probably cost more than 300 dollars, according to the makers.

The QuartzPro64 not only gets more computing power and more ram than the regular Quartz64 boards, the Pro model is also larger with dimensions of 180x180mm. Thanks to the RK3588 soc used, more I/O options are available and the team says they will make as many of them available on the board as possible.

The board will receive, among other things, a USB-C port with alt-mode for controlling displays, various USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, an HDMI input and two HDMI outputs, PCIe 3.0, an eMMC socket, an SD card slot, a fan header, two SATA ports, and two Gigabit Ethernet connections.

The RK3588-soc is an octacore with four A55 cores and four A76 cores, clocked at 1.8 and 2.4GHz. The soc has a Mali G610MC4 GPU, based on the Valhalla architecture. The soc can drive an 8k screen or a total of four 4k screens. The soc also has an npu with a computing power of 6Tops.

Pine64 will at least initially only supply the QuartzPro64 to developers, because there is no software for end users yet. The sale will work with a coupon system previously used for the sale of the PineNote and PinePhone Pro.

It is not yet known when the QuartzPro64 will be available. The price has not yet been determined, but the makers believe it will be more than $300. Perhaps Pine64 will offer the sign to a wider audience at a later date, once developers get broader support for the new soc. Pine64 may also want to use the RK3588 soc in other future products. Pine64 is going to communicate more news about the version’s availability to developers via Telegram, Matrix and Discord.
