Pine64 is the first to release a single-board computer that works on a chip with a RISC-V core. The Star64 has a StarFive processor with four 1.5GHz cores that, according to the company, is comparable to the performance of the Rockchip RK3566.

Pine64 previously hinted at a new singleboard computer, but is now giving for the first time details about the Star64. This is the company’s first single-board computer that runs on a chip with a RISC-V core. The SBC has a StarFive JH7110 64bit CPU with four 1.5GHz SiFive FU740 cores. The company says the soc is comparable in performance to the Quartz64board from the company, which uses a Rockchip RK3566, a quad-core ARM Cortex A55 chip. The computer also has an integrated BXE-2-32 GPU and is available in configurations with 4GB or 8GB memory.

The Star64 also has a PCI-e connection, a USB 3.0 port and GPIO pins. There are also two gigabit Ethernet ports on the device, but a cheaper variant will be released ‘at a later moment’ that only has one Ethernet port.

Pine64 says the SBC will have a ‘Model A’ design with dimensions of 133x80x19mm. Prices and availability of the device are not yet known.
