Pictures show USB plug that also fits the other way around
Images have appeared of the new USB plug, which is reversible and which also fits in the connection vice versa. The plug is considerably smaller than current USB ports and is therefore not compatible with current standards.
Furthermore, the specifications and design are still subject to change until the USB Implementers Forum approves the final design in July this year. The design aims to eventually replace USB and micro-USB as we know them today.
Although the USB Implementers Forum has not yet finished the design, the consortium is releasing two images of the current concept, The Verge writes. USB type-c will only support USB 3.1 and therefore have a throughput speed of up to 10Gbps. That’s twice as fast as USB 3.0, which is now the latest version of the USB standard.
