Pictures show polished LG interface for G3 smartphone

Screenshots have emerged of what would be LG’s new Android interface for its upcoming G3 smartphone. The design is flatter and has many similarities with the Samsung skin on the Galaxy S5.

The screenshots also show the ‘Concierge’ function; in the screenshot of the home screen it’s under the Weather widget and says it’s a good idea to bring an umbrella. What the ‘digital assistant’ from LG looks like and how the application integrates with, for example, Google Now, is as yet unknown.

The screenshots were posted on multiple sites at once, including DigitalTrends. The images show a flatter design with larger icons. In addition, LG has removed the sliders for volume and brightness from the notification bar, leaving more space for notifications.

The design of the G3 itself will probably be based on a recently presented Japanese device from LG, The Verge reported earlier. The device has a screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels, the manufacturer confirmed earlier. It probably runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 soc and has Android 4.4 on board.

When LG will present the successor to the G2, which was released last year, is still unknown; rumors were earlier that it would happen in May, but now newer rumors are talking about June. The manufacturer presented the G2 in August and released it in September.
