Photos show possible successor Sony Xperia 1 smartphone
Photos have emerged of what should be the successor to the Sony Xperia 1 phone. The photos show a phone with the cameras in a different position, but otherwise there are not many changes visible.
Where the cameras are centered on the Xperia 1, they are in the top left corner of the successor, according to XperiaBlog. That also indicates that the internal design is different, because the cameras have to be in a different place on the pcb. As a result, other parts also have to be in different places. The screen again has a 21:9 ratio and the camera button is also on the right side of the housing. XperiaBlog has no specifications of the phone.
The new phone should follow the Xperia 1, which came on the market in June for 949 euros. Sony has presented two high-end models a year in recent years: one at the end of February at the telecom fair Mobile World Congress and one in September at the electronics fair IFA in Berlin. The fair will start later this week. Renders of the phone also appeared at WinFuture. That talks about a smaller version of the Xperia 1 with an OLED screen of 14.2×6.1 centimeters, around 87 square centimeters, with a diagonal of 6.1 “and a resolution of 2520×1080 pixels. The phone would have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 -soc with 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage. The housing would measure approximately 15.3×6.6cm, making it only slightly wider than a Sony Xperia Compact phone, but a lot longer.
Update, 9:52: CLB pointed to WinFuture’s article with some specs, which were added to the article shortly after publication.
