Photos show Nokia’s ‘Superman’ phone
Pictures have surfaced of what would be Microsoft’s smartphone aimed at taking selfies. The alleged Lumia 730 is codenamed Superman and has onscreen buttons and a new version of Windows Phone, according to the photos.
The photos published by WPCentral show that the device has the buttons on the screen, just like the Lumia 630 and 530. The recently released Lumia 930 has the buttons just below the screen. The screen also shows the text ‘Lumia Debian Red’, presumably the code name of the Nokia firmware release of Windows Phone 8.1 Update. As a standalone company for the Amber, Black and Cyan updates, Nokia also used code names such as Bittersweet Shimmer and Cherryblossom Pink.
The Superman smartphone is said to be aimed at taking selfies according to previous rumors, but there is nothing to see in the photos. That focus on the front camera would be apparent from the resolution of up to five megapixels. That would be the highest resolution for a front camera on a Windows Phone so far, although quite a lot of devices already have such a front camera on Android phones. The device would also have a 4.7 “screen, but many details are still unknown. Microsoft would like to present the Nokia device quickly, but when that will happen is not clear.
The Redmond-based company reports that the Windows Phone Store now contains 300,000 apps. The Windows Phone Store hit the 200,000 apps milestone in December 2013, making it seem like between 300 and 400 apps are added per day.
