Photos presumptive successor HTC One M8 appear online
Photos have appeared online of what is believed to be the successor to the One M8. It is probably an early prototype. The design of the device in the photos is very similar to that of the current M8. Only the opening for the camera differs considerably.
Instead of the round opening for the camera, the model has a larger, square element, as can be seen in the images that the French NowhereElse has put online. The French site got the photos from a source believed to have proven reliable in the past. The larger opening for the camera says nothing about the quality or brand of the module, but it is rumored that HTC will not install an UltraPixel camera with a maximum resolution of four megapixels on the back, but a 20.7-megapixel sensor.
The metal housing also seems a bit thinner than that of the One M8, but otherwise all details are the same. For example, the connections of micro-USB and the 3.5 mm jack are in the same places and the plastic stripes in the metal housing are also in the same places. However, the black element around the screen seems to continue to the sides of the phone.
It is unknown whether it is the successor to the One M8 and if so, whether it will be the final design. The successor to the One M8, which is currently codenamed Hima, is rumored to have a 5″ screen with full HD resolution and run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810-soc.
HTC will probably announce the successor to the One (M8) on March 1, when it holds an event ahead of the Mobile World Congress telecom fair in Barcelona.
