The RED Hydrogen One smartphone has gone through the approval process of the American telecom watchdog FCC. The report includes photos of the inside of the device. This shows that there is room for two sims and that there is a 4510mAh battery.

The FCC test report shows both interior and exterior photos. The images are published in a low resolution, so it is not possible to see exactly which chips or sensors RED uses. However, the dual camera can be seen on the front and back and the battery capacity can also be read. The device has ridges on the outside, which should ensure a good grip.

Now that the device has gone through the FCC approval process, the RED Hydrogen One can be released in the United States. The intention was that the phone with a ‘holographic screen’ would be released in August, but that is no longer achieved. RED CEO Jim Jannard says in a forum topic that providers are choosing a new introduction moment. More information about that would follow soon, but probably ‘it doesn’t look good’. His wording hints at further delay. In the US, AT&T and Verizon will sell the device.

When RED announced its first smartphone last year, the company said the phone would be released in early 2018. Users could pre-order by paying $1,595 for a titanium version, or $1,295 for an aluminum version. The manufacturer presents the Hydrogen One as ‘the world’s first holographic media machine’. The phone contains an LCD with nanostructures that enable a 3D display without glasses. It can also be expanded with modules via a connector on the back.
