Photos of new Canon EOS M, PowerShot G5 X and G9 X appear online
Product photos of three new Canon cameras have emerged. It concerns a new EOS M system camera and two PowerShot compacts with 1 “sensor. Canon will probably announce the new devices officially in a few days.
Images of unannounced cameras regularly appear on the Japanese digicam-info website. The introduction almost always follows a few days after the publication of the images. A photo on the site now shows a new model in the Canon EOS M series. Although the model number is missing, it can be read from the simple appearance that the camera will be positioned under the EOS M3 introduced this year. Although further information about the camera is lacking, it can be seen that a new lens is also appearing. The EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM is presumably a lot more compact than the 18-55mm kit lens that Canon currently supplies with the EOS M cameras.
In addition to the new EOS M, two new compact cameras with 1″ sensors have emerged: the G5 X and G9 X. With the G5 X, Canon seems to be targeting advanced photographers. The model has many manual adjustment buttons and, like the G7 X a 24-100mm equivalent f/1.8-2.8 lens, the bulge on top of the housing hinting at the presence of an electronic viewfinder.
The Canon G9 X is more similar in design to the PowerShot G7 X, Canon’s first compact with 1″ sensor. The new model weighs 209 grams according to digicam info and measures 98x58x31mm. If that’s true, the camera is a lot lighter than the G7 X which weighs in at 304 grams and measures 103x60x40mm.To accommodate the small design Canon uses a 28-85mm equivalent f/2.0-4.9 lens.According to the leaked specs, both the G5 X and G9 X equipped with a 20.2-megapixel BSI sensor with 1″ format and a 3″ LCD with 1.04 million dots.
