Photos of never-released Microsoft Surface Mini appear online
Photos and details of the Surface Mini, the 8-inch tablet with Windows RT that Microsoft planned to introduce in 2014 along with the Surface Pro 3, have surfaced on the internet, but were said to have canceled a few weeks before the unveiling.
The back of the Surface Mini is covered with a soft layer, which extends to the front. The tablet has fairly wide screen edges and has a folding stand with three positions at the back. The standard includes a holder for a stylus, which would be included. A keyboard cover was not part of the accessories. The photos show the tablet in black, but the intention was, according to Windows Central, that the model came out in more colors.
The tablet has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 with 1GB of RAM and 32GB of storage memory. The resolution of the 8″ screen is 1440×1080 pixels. The model runs Windows RT 8.1. In 2014, there were many rumors that Microsoft would release the Surface Mini. The decision not to do that would only be made a few weeks before the Redmond company. Microsoft would have concluded at the last minute that the Surface Mini didn’t have enough unique features, and Windows 10 was released in September 2014, slowly fading Windows RT into oblivion.
