Canon will come with a mirrorless full-frame camera, which will reportedly have a 30-megapixel sensor. The device gets a new RF mount and Canon is releasing four lenses for that with the introduction of the system. This is evident from photos that have appeared.

The Japanese camera blog Nokishita has put photos and specifications online. According to the website, Canon will introduce its mirrorless system camera later this month. The Canon EOS R is very similar to Canon’s SLR cameras, but is much smaller due to the lack of the mirror and the optical viewfinder. The device uses an electronic viewfinder.

According to the Nokishita blog, the camera will have a 30.3 megapixel sensor with a sensitivity of 100 to 40,000 iso, with extensions to 50, 51,200 and 102,400 iso. The shooting speed would be a maximum of eight frames per second. The EOS R gets a 4k movie function with which you can film at 30fps, in full HD resolution that is 60fps and at HD resolution 120fps.

The screen at the back is a touchscreen and the viewfinder uses an OLED panel. The camera works with Canon’s LP-E6 batteries, which are also used in DSLRs. The dimensions are 135.8×98.3×84.4mm and the weight is 660 grams, including battery and memory card.

The Canon EOS R uses a new lens mount, the RF mount, so new lenses have to be developed. Images show four copies: a 35mm f/1.8 Macro with IS image stabilization, a 50mm f/1.2L, a 28-70mm f/2L and a 24-105mm f/4L IS. Adapters are also coming to use EF lenses on the EOS R camera.

Canon hasn’t officially announced the EOS R yet, but Japan’s Nokishita blog has a good reputation for publishing the images and specs on unannounced cameras. Usually, the official release follows shortly after that information is leaked.

Canon’s EOS R system follows the introduction of the Nikon Z system, which also consists of mirrorless cameras with a full-frame sensor. Sony had such cameras on the market for some time.
