Photos may show LG G5
Photos have appeared online of a device that may be the LG G5. The device is housed in what manufacturers call a ‘dummy case’ or ‘lunch box’, a way to hide the actual design of the device.
Manufacturers send devices in such cases to, for example, providers to have the device undergo the required tests without the final design being visible. The photos, which fan site Droid-Life has put online, show many details of the device despite the case.
For example, two cameras can be seen on the back, both of which have a slightly different appearance. The laser for the autofocus is probably located between the cameras. LG has been using laser autofocus on its high-end devices for a few years now. Below that is a round cutout, probably for a fingerprint scanner. Since the LG G2 from 2013, there are buttons on the back. However, the volume buttons are on the side. There is a USB-C connection at the bottom. On the front, the case has cutouts for something that may be a second screen, just like on the V10 smartphone that appeared in the Benelux this month. However, this second screen appears smaller.
Due to the case, it is difficult to estimate whether previous rumors about the size of the device and the screen size are correct. According to previous rumors, the device has a 5.3 “screen and a housing of 14.9 x 7.3 cm, with a thickness of 8.2 mm. LG will present the G5 at its own event prior to the Mobile World Congress telecom fair in Barcelona. That is in about a month.
