Photos may show 5″ Nexus smartphone ‘Sailfish’
After a bunch of renders a month ago, AndroidPolice has now got their hands on photos of what the site says with certainty is the new Nexus model dubbed “Sailfish.” Apart from the smaller size, this device would be the same as its bigger brother ‘Marlin’.
AndroidPolice says it is fully convinced that this is the new Nexus. They also strongly suspect that the manufacturer of the device is HTC. The source of the photos remains anonymous. The pictures also correspond to a Others photo that leaked from the device. The person who placed it on the website also mentions that the device is made by HTC. The photos clearly show that glass and metal are used for the exterior and that plastic does not seem to be involved. Only the Google logo on the back would still be missing, but according to the site, it would just be on it by the time this device enters the production phase.
Sailfish would be the variant with a 5 “screen and the screen of Marlin would be 5.5”. Apart from that size and the resolution of that screen, the two devices would be identical. That information also came in to AndroidPolice last month. Sailfish is said to have a screen resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, but it is not certain whether it will be an LCD or an OLED screen, although the latter is more likely. The larger Marlin’s screen would have a resolution of 2560×1440.
The device gets presumably a Snapdragon 821 soc. Furthermore, the device would have 4GB of RAM and at least 32GB of storage memory. There are one or more speakers at the bottom of the device, a fingerprint scanner at the back and the battery is said to have a capacity of 2770mAh. Further details regarding these two devices, such as availability and prices, are not yet available.
It is incidentally a coincidence that one of the two new Nexus’s is given the same name as the Finnish-made mobile OS. All Nexus devices are given a code name referring to an animal from the sea.
