A photo of Canon’s suspected 50mm f/1.8 IS STM lens has surfaced. The new lens has been rumored several times, and an official announcement is expected this month.

The image in question has been put online by Photorumours, but it is otherwise unclear what the source of the photo is. The image is not quite sharp, but according to the site it is the 50mm f/1.8 IS STM lens that Canon plans to announce soon. As the name suggests, the lens has an STM stepper motor and an Image Stabilizer built in.

The new model will probably replace the current 50mm f/1.8 II lens. The successor has been rumored several times, but Canon has not made an official announcement yet. However, the company is expected to do so this month. There is no word yet on a possible release date or price.
