A photo of a new camera from Canon, the Canon EOS M, has appeared on rumor sites. It is reported that it is a mirrorless system camera with a new lens mount, which will probably be announced on July 23.

After some rumors, there is now also a photo of the Canon EOS M appeared† Canon seems to want to make the step to mirrorless system cameras. Rumors are circulating that the camera will feature an aps-c sensor, perhaps the same 18-megapixel sensor found in the Canon EOS 650D. Earlier rumors talked about a 1.85x crop sensor, as in the Canon G1 X. The EOS M would also have a touchscreen.

The lens in the photo is a Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM lens. EF-M would be the new mount for lenses on Canon’s mirrorless system. It is unknown whether EF or EF-S lenses will also fit the camera.

Previous patent applications from Canon already pointed to the development of a system camera. Canon’s competitors such as Sony, Panasonic and Samsung have been making system cameras for a long time. Canon has planned a big event for July 23, when this camera will probably be officially announced.
