Philips TVs with Android TV from 2019 and 2020 get DTS Play-Fi support
All Philips TVs with Android TV from 2019 and 2020 will receive support for DTS Play-Fi. A number of soundbars and wireless speakers also receive support for this. The feature comes with a firmware update to existing devices.
The update applies to future TVs that will be released in 2020, and to existing Android TVs from 2019, says TP Vision, the company that releases TVs under the Philips brand name. The televisions will receive support for Play-Fi, a standard of DTS. Play-Fi allows users to wirelessly connect various audio devices.
In addition to the televisions that will be released this year, older TVs will also receive DTS Play-Fi support. The TVs from 2019 will receive it via a firmware update in the second half of 2020. TP Vision does not provide a timeline for each model.
TP Vision says it will also release new soundbars and wireless speakers that have DTS Play-Fi support in September 2020. Just like the TVs, they fall under the Philips brand name. It is not known what kind of models are involved. The first Philips audio products from TP Vision came out a year and a half ago. Earlier this month, the manufacturer announced the first OLED TVs with Play-Fi.
