Exceptional images
The new TV has the advantages of the latest OLED technology in combination with the 2nd generation of the Philips P5 Perfect Processing Engine and the unique three-sided Ambilight system.
The new OLED technology consists of the latest OLED panel from 2018 and offers 10% more light output (up to 1000 nit) compared to 2017 models. The high light output and the traditional black display of OLED provide an exceptional contrast. They are essential to properly display HDR images.
In the near future, most images will still be viewed in SDR instead of HDR. This is why Philips has developed a new exclusive technology: Perfect Natural Reality. The 2nd generation P5 chip features the new Perfect Natural Reality contrast enhancing technology that uses a new advanced and intelligent contrast algorithm in combination with P5’s existing systems. Perfect Natural Reality continually calculates how image quality, brightness, sharpness and contrast can be improved to display SDR images as HDR images. This allows the system to display details that are normally lost and creates more realistic images with more depth.
Exceptional sound
The OLED + 903 builds on the existing excellent sound system of the OLED 803. By using the expertise and patented technology from Bowers & Wilkins, the TV sound is lifted to a completely new level.
The sound system consists entirely of Bowers & Wilkins speakers, which are mounted in special larger and harder housings. The casing of the rear bass speaker consists of a larger driver unit for low frequencies with two larger passive speakers. These are mounted in a larger housing, with more internal volume and extra ribs for more strength. The two tweeters / mid-range speakers are now facing forward rather than down. The speakers are also placed in a firmer housing. The soft dome tweeter and mid-range paper cones of the OLED 803 have been replaced by a recessed 19mm titanium tweeter and a mid-range fiber optic speaker. Both are connected to each other in the speaker housing.
Bower & Wilkins also helped to optimize the DSP function of the OLED + 903. The amplifier and the total output power are still 50 watts. The result is a TV that meets the ‘real sound’ of Bowers & Wilkins. The distortion of the sound is reduced, while speech and the sound propagation have improved considerably. The amount of bass has increased, but it sounds clear and precise, making films more impressive, but even background music sounds beautiful.
European design
The OLED + 903 features the best of European design with a super thin edge and two narrow horizontal metal feet. The left leg contains the Philips logo and on the right is the Bowers & Wilkins logo.
The forward-facing speakers are integrated into the integrated soundbar with a high-quality dark gray, acoustically transparent fabric, specially developed by the leading Danish textile company Kvadrat.
In addition, the thin panel together with the ultra-slim metal housing provides an almost seamless connection with the three-sided Ambilight technology, which, combined with the exceptionally vivid colors and high contrast of the screen, creates an intense viewing experience.
The OLED + 903 features the Android TV TM operating system, 16 GB of internal memory (expandable) and runs on a super-fast quad-core processor. The TV is currently running on Android N, but will be upgraded to Android O in the near future with a new user interface and built-in Google Assistant. This allows users to control their smart home devices via the microphone of the TV remote control. With the new Amazon Alexa feature, users with devices that support Alexa can control Philips Android TVs.
