Philips Hue products are losing integration with Works with Nest

As of November 17, Philips Hue products can no longer be used in conjunction with Works with Nest. This also applies to existing Philips Hue users. This has to do with the fact that Google already announced in May last year that the Works with Nest program will disappear.

The loss of support was first noticed by the website The Ambient, where a screenshot can be seen from the Philips Hue app. It states that the Philips Hue integration with Nest Thermostat, Nest Cam and Nest Protect will expire on November 17. Previously, Philips already stopped integrating new users, but up to now existing users could still use it.

Signify, the company behind Philips Hue and the smart Philips lighting products, has also officially confirmed this change. In it, the company repeats that Google is switching from the Works with Nest to the Works with Hey Google program, which also has consequences for Philips Hue. These consequences are only temporary, according to Signify, because the functionalities are built into the Home app by Google.

To access features such as Home and Away Routines, the Philips Hue account must be linked to the Google Home app. These features have recently been added to the Home app. This addition means that the loss of Philips Hue support from Works with Nest is unlikely to be seen as a huge problem, as the fear of losing Home / Away functionality was one of the main complaints from users last year it was announced that the Works with Nest program would disappear.
