Phase One Introduces 100 Megapixel Camera for Drones drone
Phase One introduces the iXM-100, a camera module for drones containing a large 100-megapixel sensor. It is a BSI sensor from Sony, which PhaseOne also uses in its digital medium format cameras.
Phase One has housed the sensor in a small, waterproof housing that weighs 630 grams without the lens. In combination with an 80mm lens, the weight is 1100 grams. The dimensions including the 80mm lens are 90x90x164mm.
The Phase One iXM-100 camera has a bsi-cmos sensor from Sony, measuring 43.9×32.9mm and pixels of 3.76 microns. The sensor shoots photos with a resolution of 11664×8750 pixels in a 4:3 ratio. The light sensitivity can be set from 50 to 6400 iso and the maximum shooting speed is three frames per second. Photos are stored on an xqd memory card.
Along with the camera modules, Phase One is releasing four lenses. It concerns a 35mm and an 80mm fixed focus lens. In addition, there are 80mm and 150mm variants with a focus motor that can be controlled remotely. The lenses have a leaf shutter that achieves a shutter speed of up to 1/2500th of a second and Phase One guarantees a minimum of 500,000 shutter movements.
Phase One also makes a fifty-megapixel variant of the camera module. The iXM cameras are intended for industrial applications such as inspection or area mapping. The 100-megapixel camera costs $40,000 and the lenses cost $10,000 each. Converted with VAT, the price of the camera is about 40,300 euros.
