PES 2019 no longer has Champions League and Europa League
PES 2019 will no longer have the Champions League and Europa League football tournaments. Game publisher Konami and football association UEFA are ending the collaboration that made the Champions League possible in the game.
The tournaments will remain playable in the PES versions so far, but the upcoming PES 2019 will no longer have the tournaments. Konami says it wants to focus on other things. “This year we are shifting our focus to other areas. We continue to look at how Konami and UEFA can work together.” That happens with ‘national team football’, according to UEFA.
Konami had an agreement with UEFA, but the competing game FIFA has many more licenses from clubs and players, among others. It is unknown whether UEFA has met with EA, the maker of FIFA. PES still has licenses from many clubs from the Eredivisie and appealing teams such as FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund.
