Pebble will bring steel version of Time smartwatch to the Benelux at the end of this year
Pebble announced the Time Steel at MWC 2015. Those supporting the Pebble Time announced last month via Kickstarter can upgrade to the new stainless steel variant while maintaining their spot in the queue.
Pebble uses the same strategy with the Time as with the original Pebble smartwatch; a metal version of that model also came later. However, the Time Steel follows just a few weeks after the Time’s introduction. With that introduction, the target of 500,000 dollars, approximately 440,000 euros, was met almost immediately after the announcement.
The metal version of the Time offers the same functionality and has almost the same specifications. However, the model is a millimeter thicker. Buyers will have the option to choose between a leather and a stainless steel strap. The battery life would be ten days. The Pebble Time is thinner than the ‘regular’ Pebble watches and has both a microphone and a color screen based on e-ink technology.
The Pebble Time Steel will be available in the Benelux at the end of this year. The regular retail price in the US, where the model will appear in July, is 299 dollars, converted and 323 euros with VAT. Until Friday 27 March, interested parties can support the Pebble Time Steel on Kickstarter.
