PC version of God of War will be released on January 14, 2022
Sony and Santa Monica Studio will release God of War for PCs next year. Originally released in 2018, the PS4 game will be released on Steam and the Epic Games Store on January 14, 2022. The PC version will include an unlocked frame rate and 4k support.
Developer Santa Monica Studio writes on the official PlayStation blog that the Steam version of God of War will receive several graphical improvements. The game will be getting several graphics presets and options, including new ambient occlusion options with gtao and ssdo, according to the studio.
The studio has not yet announced system requirements, but does report that the game requires 80GB of storage space. The game’s Steam page states that the game uses DirectX 11. The PC version of God of War will also receive support for 21:9 ultrawide monitors. Gamers with an RTX video card can play the game with Nvidia’s DLSS and Nvidia Reflex. The game must support controllers and mouse and keyboard controls.
God of War is already available for pre-order on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The game costs 50 euros. The PC version of the game includes additional digital content, in the form of an armor set for Kratos and Atreus and four skins for shields. Santa Monica Studio further reports that the PS4 version of God of War has sold approximately 19.5 million copies through August 2021.
This isn’t the first time Sony has released a PlayStation exclusive game for PC. The company previously released the PS4 exclusives Death Stranding, Horizon: Zero Dawn and Days Gone for PCs. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and the standalone expansion Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will also be released next year for PC.
