PC version of Fallout 4 gets an update with 58GB of high-resolution textures
Bethesda will release an update for Fallout 4 next week that will add high-resolution textures to the game. 58GB of disk space is required for the textures, and the studio says a GTX 1080 graphics card is required to run the game smoothly with the update.
Bethesda is also releasing a PlayStation 4 Pro patch for Fallout 4. It will be released early next week and will feature graphical improvements. There will be no 4k mode, but the resolution will be increased to 1440p. In addition, the godray effects are improved and the draw distance of grass, objects and NPCs is increased.
The high-resolution textures pack for the PC version will also be released next week. It is not known how large the download is, but unpacked on the hard disk or ssd it is 58GB. After installing the patch, an option to turn on the textures will appear in the game’s launcher.
To run the game smoothly with the new textures, powerful hardware is needed. Bethesda recommends an Intel Core i7-5820K processor, at least 8GB of RAM and a GTX 1080 GPU. Initially, the system requirements also listed an RX 490X as an AMD alternative, but that entry has been removed. AMD does not yet have a video card with that type number in its range.
