The PC version of Baldur’s Gate III will be released almost a month earlier than originally planned. The new release date of this version is August 3. The PS5 version of the game will be released a week later than planned; its release date is now September 6.

In an interview with Kotaku Larian leader Swen Vincke explains that the PC version of the game is ‘almost ready’ and that it is difficult to release the PS5 and PC version at the same time without the game having to compete for the attention of gamers with titles like Starfield, which will be released on September 6. The PS5 version is therefore not spared that fate.

The reason for releasing the PS5 version later is that the priority is to maintain a stable 60fps. That requires more development time. The Xbox Series version of the game will also ‘take a little more time’; it currently has no release date.

Baldur’s Gate III has been available in Early Access for Windows and macOS since 2020. The franchise is based on the Forgotten Realms campaign setting from Dungeons & Dragons. This game series originally comes from BioWare, but this game is being developed by Larian Studios, known for another top-down RPG, Divinity: Original Sin.
