PC Players Bypass Timer From Resident Evil Village Limited Demo

The third and final Resident Evil Village demo is only an hour away, but PC gamers have found a way to extend it. This makes it possible to play the demo for as long as players want, until Capcom takes the demo offline on Sunday.

In order to play the Resident Evil Village demo for more than 60 minutes, according to Steam user Leaves, gamers must first disable Steam Cloud for the demo and download the Steam Achievement Manager tool. After that, they have to delete the local save data and start the SAM tool. That SAM tool allows users to remove the Achievements and Stats from the demo. Apparently, the demo uses that data, among other things, to determine whether the gamer has played the demo for more than sixty minutes.

After that, players can start the demo again and the timer is reset to one hour, Leaves says. This whole process can be done in less than a minute; Leaves says he made a tool for it. These steps will also remove the settings from the demo. Leaves writes that these settings are stored in a data00-1lbin file with the savegame folder. If users don’t delete this file or keep it separate and paste it into the folder later, the game would start up with the correct settings.

Unlike the previous demos, this third Resident Evil Village demo will be available for eight hours instead of eight days. Players are presented with two environments to explore, a village and a castle.

Resident Evil Village is a first-person horror game set after Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. The game will be released on May 7 on Steam, Google Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series consoles, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
