Mollie is a payment provider and handles payments for companies. The company has, among other things, meal delivery company Deliveroo as a customer. It is not known what the profit and turnover of the company is. After the investment round, Mollie would be worth 5.4 billion euros on paper.

The fintech company currently employs 450 people and the plan is to add another 300 people. With this, Mollie hopes not only to expand beyond Europe, but also to be able to supply new financial products and services.

The Mollie says it now has 120,000 customers in Europe and will process 10 billion in transactions in 2020. In 2021, the payment provider wants to double this and process more than 20 billion euros in transactions. The company was founded in 2004 by Adriaan Mol. Mollie also supported payments with bitcoin for some time, but stopped in 2019. According to the payment provider, it was too expensive to continue to support bitcoin as a means of payment.
