Payday 2 gets Silk Road update on November 7 7
Starbreeze is coming with an update for Payday 2 this week. The free Silk Road update introduces a new outfit system and an improved interface. The developer also comes with three paid DLC packages, including a new heist.
Silk Road is the first major Payday 2 update since 2018. The free update includes a new outfit system and six new outfits. The game’s interface has also been improved, according to the developer. At the same time as the update, Starbreeze also releases a new heist; the Border Crossing. This mission is available as paid DLC and costs $7. The heist takes place around the border between the United States and Mexico. Starbreeze also comes with a new outfit pack and a pack of new weapon mods, priced at $3 each. A bundle of all new DLC is available for $10.
Starbreeze announced at the end of 2018 that it would stop producing content for Payday 2, but after money problems, the developer had to fall back on the game. Last month, the Swedish game studio already indicated that it would come with new paid DLC for the online shooter in the near future. The company will also release a sequel to the game in 2022 or 2023.
This lack of money is partly due to the flopping of Overkill’s The Walking Dead, a shooter based on the TV series of the same name. It has been known for some time that the company is financially unhealthy. Earlier this year, 60 Starbreeze employees were laid off. The company also indicated at the time that it expected to be bankrupt within a year.
