Starbreeze Studio has opened a new studio in the UK. This studio will focus on two new unannounced games that have a revenue model similar to Payday 2. Starbreeze has been in financial trouble for the past few years.

The British Starbreeze studio will work on two IPs, recently acquired by Starbreeze. The company does not say what kind of games it is, but does say that they will use Payday 2’s “games as a service” revenue model. pay day 2 has a lot of dlc which may include gameplay as well as new missions. Starbreeze says it wants to open a studio in the United Kingdom, because according to the company there are many good developers here that it wants to bind to.

Tancred Dyke-Wells and Lawrence Bishop take over the management of Starbreeze Studios UK. The pair previously founded Cinder Cone, a company that released Skeleton Crew last year. The two have also worked on games such as Firewatch, Smoke & Sacrifice, Nintendo Art Academy, Proteus and Battalion Wars.

Starbreeze has regularly been in the news in recent years due to money problems. In May 2019, for example, the company said it could not last another year due to cash shortages. The company therefore sold several game licenses and laid off staff. For a while it also seemed that Starbreeze would not be able to finish Payday 3 due to those money problems, but after an agreement with Koch Media this was possible. With the opening of the British game studio, Starbreeze’s problems seem to be over for the time being.
