Paul McCartney writes music for Bungie
Paul McCartney announced on Twitter that he is composing music for developer Bungie. For which game the music is intended, the former Beatle does not say. Bungie has not officially announced a new project yet.
McCartney, who is allowed to use the title Sir because of his past with The Beatles, reports via Twitter: “I’m really excited to be writing music with @bungie, the studio that created Halo.” He even posted a photo of himself talking to Bungie composer Marty O’Donnell. The ex-Beatle has not revealed which game McCartney is composing the music for.
McCartney already hinted in January that he is writing music for a game. In an interview with Die Zeit, the musician stated that he finds it fascinating to write for a new medium such as games and that his music will be heard in this way by a new generation. McCartney didn’t want to say more about it at the time.
The American Bungie is working on a game that has been given the working title Destiny. The existence of the game came out through a lawsuit. The game is part of a four-part series that publisher Activision hopes to release in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. It’s not clear if Bungie has any other games in production. The studio signed a 10-year deal with Activision in 2010.
