Patreon is working on a solution to two separate payment issues
Membership and donor platform Patreon is currently working on two separate issues surrounding payments via the platform. On the one hand, creators would unintentionally receive less revenue. On the other hand, some subscribers seem to no longer be able to pay.
Since earlier this week, content creators are said to have unfairly not received money from Patreon via Patreon. According to a status page of the platform there were problems with the Payoneer payment system. In a statement, the company said that payments through this service had been temporarily stopped; as expected Payoneer will be available to pay Patreon creators again starting later today.
At the same time acknowledges Patreon that subscribers via the platform will see a message more often than usual that their payment may be fraudulent. The Verge says based on several people affected, it appears Patreon has recently switched from an American money transfer service to a similar service based in Ireland. Several banks would consider monthly payments via Patreon suspicious because the location to which the money is transferred suddenly changed.
In a statement, the company said: “We have made an upgrade to one of our payment processing partners. As a result, creators may suddenly see a different message on their invoices.” In addition to makers and subscribers, various banks apparently also realize that this is a different location, which is why some banks appear to be blocking payments for the time being. Patreon does not yet provide information about a concrete solution to this problem.
