Path of Exile 2 probably won’t be released until 2022
The sequel to Path of Exile probably won’t be released until 2022. Due to the corona virus, the development of the game is delayed, says Grinding Gear director Chris Wilson in an interview.
Wilson loves in an interview with PCgamer another blow to the arm and does not mention a hard release date for Path of Exile 2. When asked if the game will not be released until 2022, he replies: “Yes, that seems accurate to me.” Wilson spoke to the website about the upcoming sequel to the original game, set 20 years later. According to him, the development of the game is delayed due to the corona virus.
This would mainly be because the game developer from New Zealand has difficulty attracting new talent. “We are struggling to hire international workers because New Zealand’s borders are still closed,” says Wilson. “That is holding back the exponential growth of our team. The speed of our development is not going as we had hoped.” Another problem, according to Wilson, is that work on existing updates for the original game is also slowing down due to all the working from home, also a result of the pandemic. That would play into the delay of the sequel. Wilson says the developer will likely be able to give a final release date for Path of Exile 2 at the end of this year.
