Patent shows Tamron 85mm f/1.4 lens with image stabilization
Tamron may be working on an 85mm lens with optical image stabilization and f/1.4 aperture. It is a design for SLR cameras, as can be seen from the distance between the lens elements and the sensor surface.
In 2015, Tamron came out with two bright lenses with a fixed focal length, suitable for dslrs from Canon and Nikon: the 35mm and 45mm f/1.8 VC. The manufacturer may also be planning to release a bright portrait lens with Vibration Control, according to a patent drawing from Tamron.
Should Tamron release the lens, it would be the first 85mm f/1.4 with image stabilization for SLR cameras. Tamron has frequently applied his VC technique in recent years; not just in zooms like the SP 15-30mm f/2.8, 24-70mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/2.8, but also in fixed focal length lenses including the 90mm f/2.8 Macro and the aforementioned 35mm and 45mm.
Tamron filed the patent on June 30, 2014, and the document was published on January 21 this year, Japan’s Egami blog noted. Whether and when Tamron will release an 85mm f/1.4 VC lens is not yet certain. There are often several years between the filing of a patent and the introduction of a lens.
