Patch Dying Light accidentally blocks mods
A patch for the action game Dying Light has caused mods to stop working. According to the developer, this is due to a fix that should prevent cheating and the mod functionality will return.
Techland, the developer of Dying Light, told Eurogamer that the blocking of mods was an unintended side effect that will be resolved soon. “It was not my intention to create any obstacles for muds,” said Techland. “We’ve always supported the mod community.”
The fix made it impossible to modify game files. Initially it was thought that it was a deliberate action. That a mod that removes the film grain layer that covers the game was taken offline due to copyright infringement reinforced that suspicion.
