Sony adds the Play Time Management feature in PlayStation 4 firmware version 5.50. The feature allows parents to set a maximum play time on children’s accounts. The beta of the update has been released.

The options for Play Time Management can be found in the Family Management menu of the PlayStation 4 or via the PSN account settings, which can be accessed via the Internet. Parents and guardians can set a maximum time and also an end time, until when that time can be used. If children play on an account with a set maximum time, they will receive notifications when the time is running out.

Furthermore, the update adds the possibility to import your own wallpapers via USB. A new PS Plus tab has also been added to the Library menu, where service subscribers can find the monthly games. It will also be possible to permanently delete old notifications.

It was recently revealed that firmware 5.50 for the PlayStation 4 Pro includes a supersampling mode, which can scale high-resolution games back to full-HD resolution when played on a 1080p TV. This method produces better image quality than if the game were rendered at full HD resolution. Sony is now also announcing this functionality itself.

The beta version of firmware 5.50 is not available to everyone. Interested parties can apply to Sony to be eligible.
