Cities: Skylines II will not receive support for Steam Workshop. This is what publisher Paradox reports. Instead, players can get started with Paradox Mods, the publisher says. Other mod platforms are also not supported.

Paradox announces that Paradox Mods will be used as a new mod platform in Cities: Skylines II. In a FAQ Paradox also explains that other platforms, such as Steam Workshop, are not supported. The game publisher cites inclusivity as the reason for this: both PC players and console players can work with mods via the publisher’s own mod platform, although the latter group can only use asset mods. However, code mods are not available on consoles. Asset mods typically involve aesthetic adjustments, while code mods can add new mechanics and missions, for example.

The mod tool is currently in beta. A small group of moderators will have access to the tool before release. ‘Shortly after the release’ of Cities: Skylines II, the public rollout for PC players follows. A timeline will follow at a later date for console players. Furthermore, Paradox reports that mods from the original Cities: Skylines are not compatible with part two. Cities: Skylines II will be released on October 24, 2023 for PC and June 30, 2024 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
