Paradox Interactive has announced the strategy game Imperator: Rome. The game is set in the time of the Roman Empire and is set to be released in 2019. There are not many details about the game yet.

Paradox, maker of Cities: Skylines and Stellaris, among others, says the game has the most detailed map the developer has ever put in a game. The game takes place in the centuries between the empires that Alexander the Great’s heirs founded until Rome became an empire, Paradox says.

This concerns the period between the third and first centuries BC. At that time, Rome developed from a city-state with only influence over its own region into a global empire with provinces stretching from today’s Benelux in the north to Egypt in the south, and from Portugal and Spain in the west to the Middle East. . At its peak, a quarter of the world’s population lived in the Roman Empire.

There are not many details about the game yet. The trailer that Paradox posted online with the announcement does not reveal anything about the game itself. The grand strategy game should be released next year.
