Paper Mario 64 Coming to Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack on December 10
Paper Mario, the first game in the series of the same name, is coming to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack. It is the first Nintendo 64 game to be added since the introduction of the Expansion Pack.
Paper Mario introduced the concept of the flat characters and was also a role-playing game rather than a platformer, with characteristic elements such as random encounters and turn-based combat. The game also offered some puzzle elements. The game was one of the few RPGs on Nintendo’s first 3D console, and it scores high on, for example, Metacritic.
It is the first game to be added to the Expansion Pack for the Switch Online subscription. At the introduction of the subscription, many fans reacted somewhat disappointed: for the price of 39.99 euros per year, they felt that there was too little offer. It consisted of 14 Sega Mega Drive games and 9 Nintendo 64 games at release. In addition, the technical condition of the N64 games, at least when they were released last October, was not optimal.
Paper Mario will be available from December 10, reports Nintendo. Other games announced for the service include The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Banjo-Kazooie, Pokémon Snap, Mario Golf, and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It is unknown when these games will follow. The Nintendo Switch subreddit is disappointed with the frequency of new releases so far.
The Expansion Pack costs 39.99 euros per year and includes the standard Nintendo Switch Online service, worth 19.99 euros per year. With Family subscriptions, the total price goes up a bit further, but that also offers a maximum of eight accounts.
