Panasonic has announced the successor to the FZ1000 released in 2014. The Japanese manufacturer has also announced the smaller TZ95 camera. Both cameras are largely comparable to their predecessors.

Panasonic has not made any major changes to the FZ1000 II. The bridge camera still has a 1″ sensor with a 20.1 megapixel resolution and a lens with a zoom range of 25 to 400mm in a full-frame equivalent, with a variable aperture from f/2.8 to 4.0. Also the 4k movie function with up to 30 fps is unchanged.

Furthermore, the 4k photo function has been added. This function, which is already included in the G7 system camera, makes it possible to extract individual frames from a short film recording afterwards and save them as a photo. Users are also given the option to choose the focal point afterwards.

The viewfinder still has an OLED screen with a resolution of 2.4 million pixels, but the magnification has increased from 0.70 to 0.74x. The 3″ LCD on the back has a slightly higher resolution, from 921,000 to 1.25 million points. Furthermore, this screen can still be fully rotated and folded forward via a hinge on the side, but Panasonic now also has it made touch sensitive.

The maximum shooting speed of twelve images per second while maintaining autofocus is also unchanged and the FZ1000 II again has image stabilization that has to compensate up to five stops. The new version now also supports Bluetooth in addition to WiFi and the battery can be charged via USB.

Panasonic also comes with the TZ95, the successor to the TZ90. The new compact camera still has a 1/2.3″ sensor with a 20.3-megapixel resolution and a lens with a range of 24-720mm in full-frame equivalent. The variable aperture is also unchanged at f/3.3 to f/6.4 Panasonic has added the so-called Zoom Composition Assistant function to the new camera, which should allow users to follow a subject at the touch of a button when zooming out quickly.

The electronic viewfinder has a resolution that is twice as high: 2.33 million pixels. The touch-sensitive 3″ LCD on the back, which can be folded up for taking selfies, still has a resolution of 1.04 million pixels. The TZ95 now also has Bluetooth as a new addition and the battery can be charged via USB. GPS tagging is possible, although the camera does not seem to have its own GPS chip.Panasonic has also added the 4k photo function to the new compact camera.

The FZ1000 II will be on the market sometime in early April for 849 euros. The Panasonic TZ95 will be available at the end of April for 449 euros.
