Panasonic has demonstrated prototypes of VR glasses and an omnidirectional camera in Japan. The VR glasses contain an OLED screen and can be attached to the ears, making them easier to wear than an Oculus Rift, according to the makers.

The virtual reality glasses from Panasonic contain an OLED screen with viewing angles of 90 degrees, but the company has not yet announced many more specifications to the Japanese newspaper Nikkei. The glasses can be slid around the ears and do not need a band over the head. According to the company, this should make it easier to wear. Furthermore, the glasses are equipped with red LEDs on the side and with red, green, blue and yellow elements, which could possibly be buttons.

The Japanese company is also working on an omnidirectional camera with seven lenses, spread over the sides and top. The camera should be able to be used in 2020 for recordings of the Olympic Games in Tokyo. In its current form, the camera cannot shoot stereoscopic images as it is single-lens on both sides. Panasonic said nothing about a possible commercial release.
