Panasonic presents three LCD TVs with HDR support

Panasonic has presented three new TV models with LCDs. The models all receive support for displaying HDR images and can achieve a 20 percent higher brightness than their predecessor, the manufacturer claims.

The most expensive of three new models, the FXW784, has an HCX3 processor for processing images, Panasonic says. In addition, the screen can refresh at 2200Hz and supports local dimming for better contrast. The FXW784 has a glass design and comes with 75″, 65″, 55″ and 49″ screens.

The second model is the FXW724 and does not have an HCX3 processor on board. The 4k TV supports refresh up to 1600Hz and also supports local dimming. The TV also has adjustable feet in the design and is available in 65″, 55″ and 49″.

The cheapest TV is the FXW654. It combines the 4k screen with HDR support with a refresh rate of 1300Hz. Local dimming is not supported, although the backlight continuously adapts to the content of the screen. The FXW654 is the only one of the new TVs to be available with a 43″ screen, alongside variants with 65″, 55″ and 49″ displays.

All TVs support multiple HDR formats, namely HDR10, HDR10+ and Hlg. Panasonic does not mention prices, but does report that the TVs will be cheaper than the OLED models that come out this year. Panasonic does not publish release dates and prices, but the TVs will be released elsewhere in Europe in the spring.
