Panasonic introduces robust 2-in-1 laptop with a weight of 745 grams
Panasonic has announced a 2-in-1 laptop weighing 745 grams, making it one of the lightest hybrids to date. The laptop is equipped with an Intel Core m processor and thanks to a special magnesium alloy housing, the laptop is said to be sturdy.
The Let’s Note RZ4 from Panasonic is a 2-in-1 laptop with a 10″ touchscreen and with an IPS screen with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels. The screen can be completely flipped for tablet mode. The processor is the Core m- 5Y10: an economical Soc based on Intel’s Broadwell, with 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD, and support for WiFi-AC, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI and USB 3.0.
In combination with the battery with a capacity of 4860mAh, the laptop would last up to 14 hours, Panasonic claims, although it is not clear with which use this time has been achieved. The thickness of the laptop is 19.5 mm and the weight is 745 grams. According to the Japanese newspaper Nikkei, this makes it the lightest 2-in-1 laptop to date. In the Pricewatch, the lightest hybrid currently is the Acer P3, which weighs 790 grams. The Let’s Note runs the 64bit version of Windows 8.1 Pro.
With the Let’s Note RZ4, Panasonic focuses on the business market and the group therefore emphasizes the robust magnesium alloy housing. Panasonic calls the design of the housing ‘VH Frame Structure’ and the Japanese company has applied reinforcements at critical points of the chassis compartments, while the cover has also been made extra sturdy. The model will be released in Japan on October 17 for 16,000 yen, converted 1173 euros.
